Joe Perez spent more than a decade inside the development teams of some of the world's most sophisticated technology organizations — Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Electronic Arts — as a technical writer and systems communicator embedded in the engineering process. He saw firsthand how rigorous thinking about workflow, structure, and user experience produces software that people actually use.
Before launching Seattle App Studio, Joe ran a boutique editorial consultancy for a decade, working directly with over 200 Seattle professionals on high-stakes documents and communications. That work taught him something that pure engineering backgrounds often miss: the people using software are not abstract users. They have specific processes, real constraints, and no patience for tools that don't fit their work.
